Meet Jake and Jennifer Simonis, the operators of the Milwaukie Grocery Outlet!  Jake and Jennifer are first-time owners; however, they are Grocery Outlet pros!  They started with the company as teenagers in the Gresham store, and enjoyed telling friends and family about the amazing bargains they’d find in the store every day.  They progressed through the ranks to managers, and as of October, 2009 took over the store in Milwaukie, Oregon.

The couple says that the best thing about owning their own store is being part of such a fantastic community, and allowing all to have that great neighborhood grocery store experience we all dream of.  As long-time residents of the Portland metro area, both Jake and Jennifer are excited to give back to the community that has given them so much.

One of their most memorable experiences was when a customer came in after a very hard day applying for an Oregon Trail card.  She filled a basket full of groceries and proceeded to checkout, only to find out that her new card hadn’t been filled yet.  Jennifer encouraged the woman to come back the next day, and gave her a $5 off coupon to the store to help her feel better.  She was rewarded with a smile and a promise to come back.  It’s moments like these that make Jennifer and Jake proud to be able to help those that need it.
