Pledge to Simplify the Season

Joy?  Peace?  Yeah, right.  It's easy for the holidays to become more stressful than joyful.  It’s time to stop the holiday insanity and get back to the basics.  At Grocery Outlet, we believe it's time to simplify the season.  Cut back on the extra stuff.  Be frugal with your time and money.  Avoid overstressing and overspending and you might actually enjoy the holidays.  Remember these tips to help you stay focused on what’s really important this season.

Holiday Spread

Tips to Simplify the Season
- Get ready. Inventory your supplies early on. Get wrapping paper, tape, ribbons, stamps, boxes and pantry staples (such as sugar and flour) well in advance of the holidays. You may find discounted items when you’re not rushed.
- Revisit family traditions. Think about holidays past. Which activities were most worth the effort? Focus on what makes you and your family happy and eliminate what doesn’t.
- Don’t over-commit. You don’t need to say “yes” to every invitation. Save room in your schedule for things that might pop up.
- Keep it simple. Don’t overdo the table settings and decorations. Your guests will enjoy themselves just as much even without a complicated, expensive centerpiece.
- Focus on gifts from the heart. Give gifts that show your love—not the size of your wallet. Grandparents will likely value a photo album or a framed piece of children’s art far more than expensive presents.
- Shop strategically. Sometimes the places that save you the most money might surprise you. We have a selection of toys, personal fragrance sets, home products, and other gift items that may fit someone on your list.

Now, take this Simplify the Season Pledge by signing your name in the comments below.  Then embrace the joy!

Simplify the Season Pledge
I pledge to STOP the Holiday insanity.
I will make every effort to simplify the Season.
I will not stress out over decorating, wrapping, buying and baking.
I will not buy thoughtless gifts.
I will not over-commit my time.
I will plan my schedule with free time to sip hot cocoa.
I will enjoy the true spirit of the season – joy, peace, giving.

WHY is it so darn difficult to get to the weekly AD? I can't even find it and yet it seems I have been to almost every single page on this site. I am getting exhausted trying to find the price of a damn turkey!
  • Sophia 17 Nov, 05:40 AM

I agree with Colleen. Many links lead nowhere or back to where you've already been.

Please make it easier to get to the ad...I have not found it yet and am getting very frustrated...is it always available or what?????
  • Kelly 17 Nov, 08:54 AM

I’m sorry you couldn’t find the ad on our site.  Our business model is a little different from other stores in the way we advertise—we only have the current ad displayed on our home page for the time period in which it is valid.  At the moment, we don’t have an ad in play, so we’re not displaying it on the site.

It’s also important to know that we don’t have a weekly ad.  We put out ads for specific events to highlight some of the amazing EVERYDAY bargains we have.  So we don’t really have specials as such—the items on our ads are at our everyday low prices.  I know it must be frustrating if you’re used to shopping specials, but please do try us out!  The good news is that there’s so much more in store for you than just what we have on our ads.

Thank you, and please let me know if you have any more questions.

Oh my goodness.. I thought  I was losing it.... not being able to find the ad and all. I was too going crazy!! Ok so now I know there is no weekly ad, darn it. I really wanted to see the turkey prices etc.

Hey there & Happy Holidays to all!

I got a question, why not accept manufactureres coupons?? Your items are usually name brand and are sold before expire dates, so why not let us capture even more savings. The companies repay you for them. I can understand a coupon policy to avoid the *horders* that clean the shelves(FROWNED UPON PEOPLE).

Maybe limit # of coupons per day and limit # of exact same item. Example 50 coupons a day, 4 coupons of exact same item.
Regardless we love our store and the variety of natural and organics youve added!

I thought I had saved your Pumpkin Pie reciept but I lost it, can you please tell me how I can get it back.

    Thanks,

    Carolyn Staat

I love the Grocery Outlets.  Happy to see yet another one opening.  But exactly when will you be open - I don't see an opening date.

I also had a little trouble until I entered the zip code. Every time I clicked on Nevada, the Spokane area came up. I realized that Nevada isn't listed on there, but Spokane is.

Nice poem! I love Grocery Outlets, too!

Grocery Outlet for me is like recreation.  I never know what
I'm going to find..so it's fun shopping there.  I especially love
    the cosmetic aisle!

I love the Vallejo store and it's convenient location.

I am having a very simple season.  I shopped for my gifts all year buying things on sale.  I do most of my shopping at Grocery Outlet finding most things I need without having to walk miles through a supermarket.  When I needed to take wine to my daughter's home, I go there and someone tells me what to pick out for their dessert since I do not drink-- simple simple.  The specialty items make shopping there fun and the prices are absolutely incredible.  Simple shopping, simple prices, simple decisions.
