CONSUMERS
Gone are the days when the term “bargain hunting” carried a stigma. Consumer attitudes have changed, and discount shopping has become chic.
This enormous base of savvier, more value-driven consumers — which composes Grocery Outlet’s target market — spans all income levels. It includes both the “need” customers who are on fixed incomes, as well as a growing number of “want” customers, who simply appreciate a great bargain. A study by A.C. Nielsen showed that 40 percent of households that earn over $70,000/year regularly shop at stores like Grocery Outlet.
Consumers realize that, although economic conditions may be hurting their wallets, they don’t need to sacrifice their quality of life. They can get the same trusted brands they used to buy elsewhere for a significant savings at Grocery Outlet.
SUPPLIERS
Grocery Outlet signed its first supplier contract with Del Monte in 1971. This contract, and the many that would follow, helped drive the dramatic expansion of its retail locations. Today, Grocery Outlet offers highly efficient channels of distribution and convenient reconditioning, re-labeling and package modification services for more than 2,500 manufacturers, including some of the largest companies in the world. With over 60 years experience, Grocery Outlet has established itself as the largest remarketing grocer in the U.S.
Grocery Outlet provides the solution for suppliers by purchasing their excess products and marketing them to consumers at a significant savings. Same product. Different package. Great savings.
